Cardinals Winter League Notebook 1-27-12

Mexican Pacific League

Obregon won the championship over Guasave four games to none


Veracruz Instructional League (Mexico) Playoffs

Ivan Bellazetin (former MiLB tryout-Xalapa) started at third base and moved to second, batting second.  1-for-1 with one home run, one RBI, two runs, one walk, one hit by pitch, and one stolen base.

Xalapa beat Ciudad Mendoza 8-2

Venezuelan League Championship

Jose Martinez (former Springfield-Aragua) started at second base and batted eighth.  2-for-3 with two RBIs, one run, one hit by pitch, and assisted in one double play.

Pedro Rodriguez (former MiLB signing-La Guaira) entered in the seventh and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, one walk, and struck one out. (g/f:1-1)

Dominican League Championship

Hector Luna (former St. Louis-Aguilas) started at third base and batted fifth.  0-for-1 with one strikeout.
Luis Perdomo (former Springfield-Aguilas) entered in the fifth and pitched 1.2 innings.  He allowed no hits or runs, one walk, and struck three out. (g/f:1-0)(ir-s:2-0)
Miguel Batista (former St. Louis-Aguilas) entered in the eighth and pitched 1.1 innings.  He allowed one hit and no runs for the winning decision (1-0). (g/f:1-3)(ir-s:2-0)

Julio Lugo (former St. Louis-Escogido) started as designated hitter and batted sixth.  1-for-5 with one double, one run, and one strikeout.
Fernando Tatis (former St. Louis-Escogido) started at third base and batted eighth.  1-for-3 with one RBI and one walk.
