Cardinals Winter League Notebook 2-4-18: Rafael Ortega Singles Twice & Hits A Two-Run Homer; Cesar Valera Singles Twice & Drives In One Run; Nestor Molina Looks To Use Experience In Start

Caribbean Series:

Raul Valdes (former St. Louis-Cibaenas) started and pitched four innings.  He allowed five hits, four runs (three earned), two home runs, one walk, hit one batter, and struck one out for the losing decision (0-1).  (p-s:57-36)(g/f:5-3)

Rafael Ortega (former Memphis-Caribes) started in centerfield and batted leadoff.  3-for-6 with one home run, two two-out RBIs, one run, and one strikeout.
Cesar Valera (former Palm Beach-Caribes) started at third base and batted ninth.  2-for-5 with one RBI and one run.

Caribes beat Cibaenas 15-4

Yurisbel Gracial (Matanzas-Granma) started in right field and moved to third base, batting third.  0-for-2 with one RBI, one walk, one sac fly, and two strikeouts.
Frederich Cepeda (Sancti Spiritus-Granma) started in left field and batted fourth.  1-for-1 with one double, two RBIs (one w/two-outs), two walks, and one sac fly.
Raul Gonzalez (Ciego de Avila-Granma) started at third base and moved to second base, batting ninth.  2-for-3 with one home run, two RBIs, two runs, and one sac fly.
Raidel Martinez (Pinar del Rio-Granma) entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and struck one out for the save (2).  (p-s:10-7)(g/f:2-0)(ir-s:1-0)

Granma beat Culiacan 5-4
